November 11 was a day to remember our veterans past and present, as well as our service women and men still serving.
November 11 was also my good friend Janice Robertson’s birthday. It was 25 years ago, that Janice and I started the UPEI women’s volleyball booster club. In the early years, we had the girls over to our houses for team meals and get togethers.
Over the years we were able to buy uniforms, wind suits and sweat shirts for the girls. Now when I referee volleyball. I’m officiating their son and daughters.
For the past few years, I have also helped the women’s and men’s basketball teams. I would like to salute all of the parents and supporters who bought booster club memberships, 50/50 and other tickets. Without your help, we would never have been able to support our girls, as Janice and I called them.
After 25 years, it’s time to say goodbye to fundraising at UPEI. I will continue to cheer and support the coaches and athletes. I will still ref the volleyball girl’s matches when they need me.
