The first pre-winter snowfall in Prince Edward Island Thursday amounted to little more than a wet dusting.
However, strong winds and heavy rainfall caused plenty of disruptions.

Shortly after 6 a.m., the Confederation Bridge closed for more than two hours while restrictions were in place longer for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles. Gusts as high as 150 km/hour were recorded at the bridge.
Ferry crossings between P.E.I. and Nova Scotia were cancelled.

The province’s transportation department reported dispatch officers were busy in the morning dealing with fallen trees. Several government plows and contractors were dispatched in each county to salt and sand roads.
The RCMP reported that several trees down in the North Milton and Oyster Bed area caused traffic delays Thursday morning.
Jerry Arsenault of Branch Manager Tree Service said his company had only received about a half dozen calls by mid-morning.
Wind also uprooted a cluster of four tall trees on a property on Nash Drive in Charlottetown.
Environment Canada reports sustained winds of 74 km/hour were recorded in North Cape while gusts reached 102 km/hour in Charlottetown and 113 km/hour in East Point.
Maple Plains received the most rainfall at 60.2 mm while Charlottetown recorded 40 mm and Summerside 42.1 mm.
