WEATHER: Friday, March 23 – Dangerous, icy conditions: Schools closed for the day

Schools on P.E.I. are now closed for the day, after being on a one-hour delay.

All provincial government offices across the province will open atl 10:30 a.m.

 Both Holland College and UPEI will open this morning at 10:30.

Vehicles are ice-covered this morning and roads are also ice covered and slippery as well.

Winds are still gusting strongly from the north but have moderated a bit from the gusts up to 80 that hit P.E.I. yesterday at supper time.

Environment Canada had kept its freezing rain warning in effect for Queens and Kings County this morning but ended both around 6:30 a.m. There are no weather warnings or statements in effect for Prince County today.

The Confederation Bridge is currently open to all traffic.

FlyPEI shows that Air Canada has cancelled both its early-morning flights out of Charlottetown to Toronto and Montreal.  Check the airport web site for updates.

On P.E.I. today, early morning temperatures ranged from a high of +1.1 at East Point, to a low of -2.1 at Maple Plains.
