Sidewalks are slippery this morning, but roads are mostly clear and dry while temperatures and wind are combining today for biting cold.

Winds gusted as temperatures dropped overnight, bringing a drying effect to roads, but patches of ice are still prevalent, even some with water still unfrozen under and around, so caution is needed.

Due to mechanical issues, East Wiltshire School is closed for today.  

"Students arriving by bus will be rerouted back home upon arrival," says the Public Schools Branch.

The weather today is expected to be mainly sunny with winds dropping to light this afternoon and the temperature rising slowly to about -6C .

Confederation Bridge, however, is currently open to all traffic with no warnings in place.

FlyPEI shows the first flight of the early morning cancelled, but all other arrivals and departures are on time today. Check the airport web site for updates.

On P.E.I. today, early morning temperatures ranged from a high of -3.4 at East Point to a low of -4.0 in Charlottetown.
