Environment Canada says conditions for freezing rain no longer exist for P.E.I.

The weather agency ended its warning, which had been in effect since 10:30 a.m., at around 7:30 p.m.

Public Schools Branch and French Language School Board schools closed three hours early Tuesday due to the conditions. Holland College announced it was closing its campuses at 12:30 p.m., while UPEI eventually cancelled classes early in the afternoon.

The RCMP issued an advisory about deteriorating road conditions around noon, and requested motorists slow down and travel only if necessary.

About three hours later, police dealt with a single-vehicle accident on Route 3 in Kings County, near Summerville.
