HALIFAX, N.S. - Halifax hospitals will be done with double-doubles by month’s end.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority is taking over retail food services from Compass Group Canada, which holds the contract with Tim Hortons and Pizza Pizza, in its central zone.
“Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) has been working for some time to develop a provincial strategy and structure that supports a sustainable food services model,” the health authority told employees in a memo Wednesday.
“In the course of that work, NFS has been exploring and investigating different possible models to maximize effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of both retail and patient food services.”
The authority will have a new vendor in place May 1 without any interruption in service, the memo said, promising details in the coming days.
“Thanks to Tim Hortons and Pizza Pizza, under the leadership of Compass, for their service over the past 11 years.”
