The P.E.I. government is providing the Tignish Health Centre with an annual operating grant of $45,000 through 2022.
The announcement was made today.
Annual funding for the centre has been provided since 2012.

Health and Wellness Minister Robert Mitchell said it is an example of putting an emphasis on health care close to home.
“The Tignish Health Centre is an example of that, as they provide residents of West Prince with access to a variety of health services that support their well-being," he said.
Under the new agreement, the annual grant will be provided when a budget and an operational plan are delivered. The documents will outline how the grant will be used to support programs that will improve access to – and coordination of – community health services in West Prince.
Tignish Health Centre manager Wendy Arsenault said it is a relief to have stable funding.
It will allow the centre to operate on a day-to-day basis, it will allow for updates to the building and equipment.
The Tignish Health Centre is open five days per week and offers the following services, as well as some Health PEI clinics:
· family medicine;
· public health nursing;
· women’s wellness;
· diabetes education;
· Vitamin B12 clinics;
· physiotherapy;
· pharmacy;
· dental care;
· nutritionist;
· hearing clinics;
· naturopathic medicine; and,
· Al-anon and TOPS also use space in the building.
