CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Three members of the Hells Angels prospect club in Prince Edward Island face charges after recent arrests in Charlottetown, while police will be stepping up foot patrols to monitor organized crime activities in the coming months.
On Dec. 15, the P.E.I. Organized Crime Task Force arrested 29 year-old Shawn Paquet of Charlottetown for assault and breach of undertaking.
Paquet was allegedly involved in an altercation with a man at a local bar in Charlottetown on Dec. 2 while wearing his Hells Angels prospect vest with the “Prince Edward Island” bottom rocker. The incident was caught on videotape.
Paquet was released on conditions, which included no contact with any Hells Angels members.
He will appear in court Jan, 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. to answer to the charges.

Later on Dec. 15, police located another member of the P.E.I. Hells Angels Prospect club and arrested him for two incidents of breaching an undertaking stemming from previous charges, which included having no contact with Paquet. Police allege the club member was in contact with Paquet during the Dec. 2 altercation.
A third member of the club had been arrested previously for breaching his undertaking in an unrelated incident.
Both these men were released after their arrests.
In the coming months, police say they will be conducting foot patrols in local bars in the Charlottetown area to monitor the activities of organized crime groups. Bar patrols have been used successfully in other jurisdictions to curtail violence, intimidation of the public and drug trafficking associated with these groups.
