T3 Transit in Charlottetown is working with mechanics to turn up the volume of the bells in its buses.

The city’s environment and sustainability committee said the move was made because the transit service noticed it’s hard for drivers to hear the bell used to signal the bus to stop at the next location.

The transit service is also reminding all drivers about the importance of customer service after one passenger complained a driver was rude while he was explaining to another passenger why they couldn’t use their July pass in June.

Other complaints in June from customers included one person noticing garbage around a bus shelter, which was promptly cleaned up, and another complaint of people smoking in a bus shelter.

T3 Transit also said 41,625 passengers used the service in June.
