Student from Bahamas sought in connection with assault with a weapon at Summerside motel

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Police in Summerside are asking for the public’s help in locating a 19-year-old international student from the Bahamas in connection with an incident at a motel.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Stephon Rodgers, who has been residing in Summerside.

Rodgers is charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after the motel incident Thursday at 9:40 p.m.

Police allege that Rodgers became involved in a heated confrontation with a maintenance person at the motel.

The confrontation turned physical and a weapon became involved, resulting in non-life threatening injuries to the victim, a 28-year-old Summerside man.

Police believe Rodgers plans to leave Canada and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating him.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Summerside Police Service at 902-432-1201.
