Tourism colleagues in P.E.I. say Stewart Smith was one of a kind.

A long-standing member of Meetings and Conventions Prince Edward Island, Stu Smith was well known for his professional service and leadership as the owner and CEO of Smith Sound Audio Visual and Sound Services.

He died at the Atlantic Baptist Home in Charlottetown Saturday at 88 years old.

“Stu was a pioneer and leader in providing professional services to local, National and International meeting planners” said Ann Worth, executive director of Meetings and Conventions Prince Edward Island.

“He was a very engaged member and forward thinking. He was a great example of the excellence Prince Edward Island could deliver as a top-notch meeting and convention destination.  His commitment to delivering professional AV and Sound service was unwavering and was often a cornerstone to hosting successful conferences.”

“Stu was a true professional and we are forever grateful as a Province for his significant contributions as a business owner and champion for providing professional services to Meetings and Conventions over the years” said Tourism Minister Heath MacDonald.

“Our condolences are extended to Stu’s family and friends during this difficult time of loss.”

A celebration of life ceremony was held on Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the P.E.I. Humane Society or to Pat and the Elephant.
