Prince County could get Prince Edward Island’s first taste of winter this weekend as Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning calling for 10-15 centimetres while the rest of the province can expect lesser amounts along with rain.
A statement from Environment Canada says that a low pressure system will approach the Maritimes from the southwest Saturday with scattered flurries or rain showers ahead of this system changing to snow Saturday evening with amounts of 10 - 15 cm expected over Prince County before turning to rain overnight.

Precipitation associated with this system is expected to begin as scattered rain showers or flurries Saturday afternoon before changing over to snow in the evening and then back to rain overnight as the system passes into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. On Sunday, the rain will again briefly change back to scattered flurries or rain showers.
In general across the Island 5 to 15 cm of snow is expected Saturday night followed by 20 to 30 mm of rain by midday Sunday.
