Sarah Stewart-Clark has announced her intention to seek the Progressive Conservative nomination for District 9, Charlottetown-Hillsborough, in the next provincial election.
“Change begins with action and that’s why I am taking this step to help do my part,’’ Stewart-Clark said. “Like many Islanders, I want to see a more equitable, just and prosperous future and being part of the PC team under the leadership of James Aylward is the best way to make that happen for all Islanders.’’
Stewart-Clark grew up in Sherwood and attended Sherwood Elementary School, Birchwood Intermediate School and Charlottetown Rural High School. She earned her bachelor of science (honours) and master of science degrees in the faculty of science and her doctorate from the Atlantic Veterinary College at UPEI.
She is an associate professor at the faculty of agriculture at Dalhousie University. Her research program is focused on helping Maritime oyster and mussel sectors prepare for climate change.
Stewart-Clark lives in Charlottetown with her husband, Fraser Clark, and is the proud mother of Rory Clark and of a child lost in a miscarriage.
Stewart-Clark has helped build and lead local grassroots groups and campaigns to improve access to mental health care and to advocate and serve vulnerable Islanders through Island Mothers Helping Mothers, #HowManyWade and Christmas in the Village along with advocacy for survivors of sexual violence in the province.
She was nominated in 2018 for the Order of Prince Edward Island.
