SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - Summerside Police Services announced Tuesday that it has been unable to substantiate any recent online threats against Three Oaks Senior High School.

On April 19 police got a report that a video was circulating online via social media and that showed a Three Oaks student threatening to do harm at the school the next day.

An initial investigation by the school administration and police cast serious doubt on the validity of those rumours and classes went ahead April 20 without incident, though uniformed police were on hand throughout the day.

Police now say they have had time to conduct a more thorough investigation and have still not been able to corroborate that there ever was a video or a threat to the school.

“Investigators spoke with numerous staff members and students who have heard about the video and the threat, but no one has been able to say where it originated, and police have not been able to locate anyone who actually saw the video or heard the threat,” said police in a statement.

The student who was alleged to have made the threatening video was identified by police early in the investigation and has been “more than co-operative.” Police have been unable to find anything to link the student to any threat.
