Charlottetown police are warning residents about the latest telephone scam involving callers claiming to represent the Canada Revenue Agency.
The police service said it’s received an increase in complaints about the scam in which the callers request personal information and sometimes demand payments to be made.
Police recommend calling the agency directly to verify a call, text or email received.
If you have shared personal information or have been defrauded by a scam like this one, call police or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
