Parks Canada is closing the Robinsons Island trail system in PEI National Park until June 5, 2015 due to "unfavourable trail conditions."

"Using the trails and technical mountain biking features when conditions are wet may damage the surface, resulting in safety threats to users as the terrain destabilizes and tree roots become exposed, said Jen Stewart, communications officer, with the PEI field unit of Parks Canada.

"In addition, if used in wet conditions, mountain biking features can be destroyed," said Stewart.

"There are still plenty of activities in the park for visitors to enjoy," she said.

"Parks Canada would like to thank all visitors for their cooperation in respecting the temporary trail closure," said Stewart. "For up-to-date information on trail conditions, please be sure to check the website at: www.pc.gc.ca/pei."
