The owners of Mike’s Queen Street Meat Market feel it’s time to spruce up.
The market has received approval from Charlottetown city council to construct a 40-foot by 80-foot building on the same property as the existing building at 368 University Ave.
The market’s owners indicated to the city that the current building is aging and a new one is required. Once the building has been constructed, the market’s owners will then seek a demolition permit for the existing building. In order to keep the business operational throughout the construction period, the market’s owners sought a variance to reduce the rear yard setback requirement from 19.7 feet to 7.1 feet in order to provide enough space for construction.
Preliminary floor plans indicate the ground floor would contain the meat market as well as an additional commercial business. The second and third floor will both contain three residential dwelling units for a total of six residential dwelling units.
