Trevor MacKinnon has announced his intention to seek the Ward 8 seat with Charlottetown city council in the Nov. 5 municipal election.

MacKinnon works with the province’s Department of Justice and Public Safety as a conservation officer.

He received his education from Sir Sanford Fleming College in environment studies and natural resources law enforcement.

MacKinnon was encouraged by residents, friends and family to run for city council and feels with his strong work ethic and sense of community he can bring new ideas and views to City Hall.

has lived with his wife, Debbie, and their two children, Jessi and Kelsi, in Ward 8 for the past 18 years.

has also worked as a wildlife technician with the Department of Environment; is past executive director of the P.E.I. Wildlife Federation and is currently the deputy grand knight of the Cornwall Knights of Columbus. MacKinnon has been involved as a volunteer with the West Royalty Elementary School and the law enforcement torch run for Special Olympics. He has also served as a national judge in the national Communities In Bloom program.

MacKinnon notes the importance of long-term planning, creation of seniors and affordable housing, clear environmental goals, and ensuring the safety of residents of his ward and all residents of the city.
