When it comes to quality of life, Prince Edward Island residents stand among the rest.

That may come as no surprise to anybody who calls the Island home.

But a recent Corporate Research Associates poll confirms 90 per cent of Islanders believe the overall quality of life is excellent or good. That’s the highest in Atlantic Canada.

Based on previous research, 73 per cent of Nova Scotians, 79 per cent of New Brunswickers, and 76 per cent of residents from Newfoundland and Labrador rate their quality of life as positive.

“Clearly, Islanders believe the quality of life in P.E.I. is highly favourable,” said Don Mills, chairman and CEO of Corporate Research Associates. “This finding should be used to attract more people to the Island, and help continue to grow the population, which has been benefitting economically from such growth.”

Money, meanwhile, may be able to buy happiness.

The survey found that the likelihood of positive opinions on quality of life increases with household income.

The results are part of the CRA Atlantic Quarterly, a survey of 300 Prince Edward Island residents conducted between May 2 and May 15. The polls results are considered accurate within plus or minus 4.9 per cent, 95 times out of 100.
