Three men entered a home and assaulted two men, Brad MacConnell, deputy chief of Police, said Thursday night, adding the incident was the result of an estranged relationship.

“They were known to each other. The catalyst of the incident wasn’t the robbery, it was secondary. It was more social dynamics.”

Brass knuckles were used resulting in one of the victims being sent to hospital with injuries. A wallet was also taken during the home invasion.

Charlottetown Police said Thursday that two men have been arrested for the robbery at an address on Malpeque Road, but they are still seeking a third suspect.

Both accused men are aged 19, one from Summerside and the other from Charlottetown.

“An intrusion into someone’s home is very serious. They were uninvited guests that assaulted these people in the sanctity of their home. There is not too much more serious than that.”

The man still being sought by police is a 22-year-old resident of Alberta.

“We will continue to put efforts in to locating him,” said MacConnell.

Both arrested men are now in jail and will be appearing in Provincial Court at a later date.

MacConnell said the investigation is ongoing.
