MONTAGUE – Church bells were ringing as usual here Sunday morning as an RCMP officer taped off a crime scene following another shooting in the region.
Two men who have known each other for years found themselves involved in a shooting incident with the 26 year old allegedly firing a gun around 5 a.m. and shooting the 25 year old man in a guest cottage behind a home on the Valleyfield. Road.
The younger man was shot in the leg and rushed to the QEH in Charlottetown and then transferred with serious injuries to Halifax. Sources say he is receiving surgery and skin grafts and should recover.
RCMP said they received a 911 call and responded to the situation. They arrested the 26 year old man without incident and he is in police custody.
The scene of the crime has been secured and the Major Crime Unit, Forensics and police dog services are assisting. The firearm has been seized by police.
Police were not releasing the identities of those involved.
