Passersby warned a Summerside homeowner that their house was on fire early Wednesday morning.
The home in question is on the corner of Arcona Street and Victoria Road.
Janet Cameron lives just down the street and noticed the commotion.
“The flames were huge,” said Cameron.
The fire started in a pickup truck parked close to the home, and by the time firefighters arrived it had started spreading to the structure.
Summerside Fire Chief Jim Peters said the call came in around 12:30 a.m.
“When I got down (there), the vehicle right beside the house and the house was starting to burn. We called for a second truck to make sure we had enough water,” said Peters.
Once the second truck arrived on scene, the blaze was quickly extinguished.
Peters said most of the damage to the home was external, but one section, especially around the kitchen also suffered some interior damage. He was unsure as to the status of the rest of the home.
No people or animals were injured.
The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental in nature.
