CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Tracey Clements was installed Wednesday as chief justice of the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island.
P.E.I. Appeal Court Chief Justice David Jenkins administered the oaths of office.
Clements replaces Jacqueline Matheson who became a supernumerary judge in January.
Justice Gordon Campbell had been serving as acting chief justice.
Clements was appointed to the supreme court on March 8 replacing Justice Wayne Cheverie, who elected supernumerary status effective Sept. 1, 2016.
Terri MacPherson will fill a judicial vacancy left by Ben Taylor, who resigned Aug. 1; while James Gormley, a partner with Stewart McKelvey in Charlottetown, replaces Clements.
