An Island teenager was sentenced on Wednesday to seven days in jail for driving drunk on a Charlottetown soccer field in April.

Olivia Jane Frankfurt, 19, pleaded guilty on May 14 in Charlottetown provincial court to impaired driving on April 16.

Judge Nancy Orr described the facts of the matter as “bizarre.” She noted that the lowest breathalyzer reading taken from Frankfurt was 200 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg. Orr added that Frankfurt had no prior criminal record.

In addition to the jail term, Frankfurt was banned from driving for one year. She was also placed on two years of probation and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service work.

Orr allowed the teenager to serve the sentence on weekends, so she can continue rehabilitation treatment.
