Teen charged with theft, assaulting police officer in P.E.I.

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer over the weekend.

On Aug. 18 at 9:30 a.m., Charlottetown Police Services responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on Barrymore Court which occurred sometime through the night.

Later that day, at 9:50 p.m., the stolen vehicle was spotted by a passerby west of Cornwall, along Route 1. RCMP intercepted the vehicle and arrested the driver.

The teenager was charged and released with conditions. He will appear in provincial court at a later date.
