Summerside police are investigating a number of break and enters that have occurred at area businesses this week.

On Wednesday, officers responded to a break and enter at Water Street East Auto Sales. Keys for a 2011 Buick were taken and the vehicle was then stolen from the vehicle parking lot. A 54-year-old Charlottetown man has been arrested and is in police custody. The man will face criminal charges of auto theft and break and enter at a future date in Summerside Provincial Court. Also as a result of this investigation, this same man will face charges of a residential break and enter recently in Stratford.

On Thursday, Summerside police were called to three early morning business break and enters. Two Water Street businesses were broken into and, in both incidents, the culprits were scared off by security alarms. A third business on Jenkins Avenue was also broken into where several pieces of paintball equipment were stolen. A surveillance video capturing this crime is posted on The Guardian website.
