Steve Gallant has announced his candidacy in Ward 3-Tea Hill in the upcoming Stratford municipal election.

Gallant has been a resident of Stratford for the past 15 years.

Among his goals as councillor, Gallant has voiced his desire to build a safe, vibrant and inclusive community. He's looking forward to meeting the citizens of Ward 3-Tea Hill to discuss their ideas and concerns.

“They are the voice of our community,’’ he said. “It would be great honour to work with the Town of Stratford and represent the people of Ward 3 Tea Hill.’’

He lives with his wife, Jayne, and they have two children, Cole, a member of the Saint John police force, and Daniel, who works with Hot 105.5FM in Charlottetown.

Gallant has been an officer with the Charlottetown Police Services for the past 24 years. Currently, he is working in the general investigations and patrol division with the Charlottetown force and is a member of the H/L RCMP Tactical Troop Joint Forces Operation Unit.

Gallant has volunteered many years with the Pownal Minor Hockey Association and has been on the public safety committee for the Town of Stratford for the past five years.
