Jessica Ashley Emma Simpson, 29, appeared before Judge John Douglas in provincial court in Charlottetown for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to the theft.
The court heard that on June 12 Simpson went to the clothing section of the Superstore and put some items in a purse.
When staff confronted her, Simpson swung the purse at them and an employee grabbed it.
Defence lawyer Thane MacEachern said the clothing was for Simpson’s children.
As part of the conditional sentence, Simpson will have to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet if her probation officer directs her to.
She will be on probation for one year and must pay a $200 victim surcharge.
