Malpeque MP Wayne Easter made the announcements of funding for various organizations through the New Horizons for Seniors Program.
The organizations include:
• The Senior Surfers Club in Kensington is receiving $8,340 to support social participation and inclusion of seniors through cultural awareness sessions offered by P.E.I. Newcomers
• The Pleasant Valley Memorial Church is receiving $14,000 to support social participation and inclusion of seniors by bringing seniors and the community together to create a community history book and website
• The community of Miltonvale Park will receive $6,950 to assist with collecting its community history by meeting with seniors to gather information and photos, while taking workshops on PowerPoint and scrapbooking
• The Milton Community Hall is receiving $5,222 to install a stage scrim, throw projector and pencil microphones to allow the seniors to continue to be engaged in theatrical community performances and begin improvisation sessions
The Government of Canada is providing around $35 million in New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) funding for close to 1,850 community based projects across the country.
