A 58 year-old Alberton man and a 41 year-old Collette, N.B. man were arrested and will be facing drug trafficking charges after RCMP seized a pound of cocaine and more than $8,000 in cash at a residence in Alberton July 5.

The Prince District Joint Force Operations (JFO) Drug Unit officers conducted a traffic stop and then executed a search warrant at the residence.

In a news release, RCMP officials said this seizure will have a “significant impact” of the drug trade in western Prince Edward Island and potentially beyond.

The Prince District JFO Drug Unit is comprised of officers from RCMP, Summerside and Kensington Police Services.
