CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Only a few months after all of its vacancies were filled, there is a new opening on the P.E.I. Supreme Court.
That opening, effective Jan. 1, came after Justice Gordon Campbell elected supernumerary status. Supernumerary judges don’t carry a full workload but can be called on to perform judicial duties.

Campbell was appointed to the P.E.I. Supreme Court in 2001 and was interim chief justice for most of 2017 until Chief Justice Tracey Clements was appointed in October.
The vacancy comes after less than four months of having a full complement.
Justices Terri MacPherson and James Gormley were both appointed to the supreme court in October.
