Islanders who use propane have seen a significant decrease in prices, and gas has gone down by 1.7 cents per litre after the mid-month adjustment approved by the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.
Propane prices decreased by 8.4 cents per litre for Superior Propane, by 4.0 cpl for Irving Energy Distribution and Marketing and by 9.0 cpl for Kenmac Energy Inc. The maximum, before-tax propane prices will now range from 80.5 cpl to 82.9 cpl.
After the 1.7-cent drop, gas prices for regular, unleaded gasoline at self-serve outlets now ranges from 114.9 cpl to 116.0 cpl.
The commission credits improved wholesale prices for gas and propane as factors in the price reductions for P.E.I.
There was no change in the price of furnace or stove oil or diesel in the adjustment, which came into effect just after midnight today.
The commission’s next scheduled price adjustment is April 1.
