BORDEN-CARLETON, P.E.I. - Opposition MLA Jamie Fox wants to know when anglers in the Borden-Carleton area can go back to casting lines from the old jetty at the Confederation Bridge construction yard.
Fox made the statement in the legislature Wednesday, indicating that public access to the site was recently restricted by the province due to safety concerns.
Fox, who represents the town, said locals have been using the structure to fish for almost 20 years.
He suggested that signage warning of potential danger be erected and the area left open, rather than cutting off access entirely.
No one from the government side of the legislature responded to Fox’s inquiry.
