A Canoe Cove man who missed most of the appointments required as part of his probation was sentenced recently to 30 days in jail.

Austin James MacDonald, 19, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where he pleaded guilty to breaching his probation.

The court heard MacDonald was on probation for one year after a conviction for mischief.

That probation required he undergo counseling or treatment as directed.

MacDonald was referred to anger management, but he only attended three out of 10 appointments.

He also attended four out of eight appointments for addiction treatment.

The court heard MacDonald blamed the breach on his probation officer for being in a bad mood and taking it out on him.

In sentencing MacDonald, Orr said the probation officer gave him more opportunities to comply with the probation order than she would have given him.

MacDonald must also pay a $100 victim surcharge.
