A new initiative to support all-terrain trail development in central P.E.I. is getting underway.

The new Bids to Build online auction starts June 2.

Organizers of the auction said ATVing offers an opportunity to explore Prince Edward Island, and the sport continues to grow tip-to-tip.

Hoping to continue that growth, the Quad Trax ATV Club, representing riders from Summerside, Borden Carleton, Brookvale, North Granville and the Kensington areas, is initiating the new fundraiser.

“We work closely with the ATV federation and land owners to ensure that we follow all procedures and that the property owners land that our trail system runs through is covered under the federation’s insurance policy,” said Peter Mellish, club member and president of the Prince Edward Island ATV Federation.

Funds raised through the auction, being held June 2 to 10, and the sale of trail passes will support the development of the ATV trail system in the central part of the province, including purchasing new trail signage, building bridges and clearing new trails.

“Our auction committee has worked hard to secure auction items that will appeal to everyone,” said Mellish.
