Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for all of P.E.I. and its previous special weather statement is continued.

The warning says that an extended period of freezing rain will impact Prince Edward Island Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.
A trough of low pressure approaching from the southwest will spread light snow into the province late in the day Tuesday. The snow will change through a period of ice pellets Tuesday evening before changing to freezing rain overnight. Freezing rain is expected to change to rain showers Wednesday morning as temperatures rise.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.

Meanwhile, the special statement says that a trough will approach from the Great Lakes today and bring rain and a risk of freezing rain to Prince Edward Island overnight into Tuesday. Precipitation amounts are not expected to be significant at this time.
A second trough of low pressure will follow closely behind bringing a more wintry mix to the province for Tuesday night into Wednesday. Current guidance suggests a period of freezing rain and ice pellets beginning Tuesday evening and lasting into Wednesday morning.
