SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - Murray Morison is seeking a seat on Summerside City Council in Ward 4: Clifton-Market.
Ward 4 is currently represented by Coun. Brent Gallant. Last month Gallant announced he would run for mayor in the fall election, leaving Ward 4 up for grabs.
Morison is the first to announce his candidacy in this ward.
Morison lives at home with this wife, Syril, and their 7-year-old son, Jyril Niño.
“We are an active family at St. Paul’s Parrish and I have become an active member of the Knights of Columbus,” said Morison, adding he has an interest in seeing the city prosper.
“We live in Ward 4 and when my son grows up I want him to be able to stay and live and work in Summerside as well. Like most, I would like to see the community continue to grow in a positive way.”
Morison says he will bring his work ethic, determination and a fresh set of eyes to council if elected.
“I’m here for the people and I’m here to get the job done. A couple of key things I want to work on include bus shelters for our city’s transit users and increased access to affordable housing.”
He says he plans to donate a portion of the councillor’s salary to community organizations.
“Most importantly, I’m here for the people, to listen and bring forth their concerns and issues. I’m a strong believer in community as I’ve spent many days at Generation XX… I look forward to meeting and talking more with the fine people of Ward 4 in the coming months.”
