P.E.I. emergency service crews will be out on the waters on Hillsborough Bay on Wednesday conducting a large-scale mass-casualty search and rescue exercise.
The public will notice a good deal of activity along the southern coast of P.E.I., including simulations of casualties in the water and on shore, life rafts, overturned vessels, signalling methods (including white training flares, smoke/fire), as well as Coast Guard, RCMP, Canadian Forces Military aircraft and vessels operating in daylight hours between Rice Point and Point Prim.
The RCMP remind the public that this is a training exercise, and that calling 911 is not required. Anyone who observes an emergency outside the event zone, call emergency services normal.
