A man arrested in a child porn sting in Ottawa is living in Charlottetown under strict conditions while awaiting his next court appearance later this month.

Brendan David Clark, 30, was ordered to report to Charlottetown Police Services every Friday since Dec. 20 up till his next court appearance. Police say he has been checking in.

Clark was arrested Dec. 13 following the Ottawa Police’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit’s online investigation. He is scheduled to appear in an Ottawa courtroom on Jan. 27.

Clark, who was released from custody Dec. 17 on $35,000 bail, has been ordered to meet numerous conditions, including the following:

— Abstain from communication or association, directly or indirectly, with anyone under the age of 16 years of age.

— Not be away from his prescribed place of residence in the capital city unless in the presence of his surety or for medical appointments or counseling verifiable in writing.

— Not attend within 200 metres of any parks, public pools, arenas, schools or anywhere children are known to be at.

— Not to possess any computers or electronic devices capable of accessing the Internet or has data storage capability including MP3 devices, smart TV boxes and gaming consoles.

Police say a man communicated with an undercover police officer who was posing as a civilian woman.

Police say they have evidence which shows a man and the officer had a conversation involving him requesting to have sex with her and her two young children. Officers arrested a man at the same downtown location in Ottawa where the online arrangement with the woman and her children was set to happen.

Clark is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and three counts of making an arrangement to commit a sexual offence against a child.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
