Jill MacIsaac has announced her intention to re-offer for Cornwall town council.
MacIsaac said she has seen development in areas including residential, recreation and infrastructure and is hoping that residents of Cornwall will once again cast their vote for her during the Nov. 5 municipal election.
MacIsaac is a mother of two daughters. She lives in Cornwall and works at The Hair Shop alongside her father as a family-run business.
“I hear concerns and wishes from residents on a daily basis,” said MacIsaac.
MacIsaac is the chairwoman of the parks and recreation committee and sits on the administration, planning and finance committees. She is also a board member that represents the APM Recreational Centre.
MacIsaac said one idea she was able to bring forward during her previous term was a youth centre for the community.
“Youth between the ages of 12-17 didn’t have an outlet or a place to go in the community that was structured outside of school hours,” said MacIsaac.
“I saw a need and I felt if I was ever given an opportunity, I would make this happen.”
The youth centre in Cornwall was established during MacIsaac’s first year on council and is maintained through the help of some local businesses, parents and Cornwall staff.
MacIssaac said she has also implemented an appreciation dinner for veterans in her community and expanded recreational facilities such as the installation of a new turf field at the Terry Fox Centre.
MacIsaac said she wants to continue to help the community grow with new land development while also protecting neighbourhood spot zoning and ensuring housing values are maintained.
“I choose to live, raise my family, work and serve in Cornwall because I believe that it has so much to offer. It is a safe, neighbourly town and I am proud to call it home,” said MacIsaac.
"Cornwall residents have put their trust in me in the last four years and I hope we can continue on that journey.”
