GEORGETOWN - A P.E.I. man who was found drunk in a vehicle parked on the side of the road was sentenced Thursday to five days in jail.
Devin Joseph Savoie, 20, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Georgetown where he pleaded guilty to having care and control of a vehicle while drunk.
The court heard that on May 31 at around 11:15 p.m. Souris RCMP responded to a complaint that Savoie was intoxicated when he left a restaurant.
They later found him in a vehicle parked on the side of the road.
Savoie provided breathalyzer samples that were more than twice the legal limit.
Along with the jail time, Savoie must pay a $1,300 fine and $390 victim surcharge.
He is banned from driving for one year.
