Seniors Safe @ Home and Seniors Home Repair programs are now accepting applications.
These programs help Island seniors with low or modest incomes pay for necessary repairs or modifications to their home to accommodate their daily needs.
Family and Human Services Minister Tina Mundy says these programs will help Island seniors stay in their homes longer and reduce pressures on long-term care and hospital beds.
“Since the development of these two programs, hundreds of Island seniors have received grants to help make necessary repairs and modifications to their homes, improving accessibility and enabling them to stay in their homes longer.”
The Seniors Home Repair Program provides up to $2,000 to make essential repairs to a senior’s home such as roofs, windows, plumbing or heating. The Seniors Safe @ Home Program provides up to $5,000 to assist seniors to make modifications to their home that supports their mobility. To receive funding, individuals must be over 60 years of age and meet the income qualifications.
