Island drivers are getting a bit of a break at the pumps following the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission mid-month price review.

However, any savings will be eaten away by an increase in home heating oil.

On Sunday, gas prices decreased by 1.3 cents per litre.

Including adjustments for taxes, pump prices for unleaded gas at self-serve outlets will now range from 106.8 to 108.0 cents per litre.

Furnace and stove oil prices increased by 1.8 cents per litre.

The maximum price for furnace oil will now be 80.6 cents per litre, plus tax.

Diesel prices jumped by 1.8 cents per litre.

There was no change in propane prices.

“Continued improvement in the wholesale price of gasoline enables the further reduction in pump prices,” the commission said in a statement.

Meanwhile, “seasonal demand pressures on both furnace oil and diesel … necessitate the increase for those products.”

The next scheduled price adjustment is on Nov. 1.
