The Cooking For KidSport fundraiser will be held March 9 at the Culinary Institute of Canada where guests will be served a five-course meal.
While those meals are being cooked, five teams will compete to re-create one of the menu items.
Each team will feature three members each from the Charlottetown Islanders, the Holland College Hurricanes, the Island Storm, the Summerside Western Capitals and the UPEI Panthers.
Tickets for the event are $100 per person or $600 for a table of eight.
Comedian Patrick Ledwell is hosting the event.
Hudson said KidSport is near and dear to his heart from when he worked at Sport P.E.I. several years ago.
“I’ve always kind of had a soft spot for it,” he said.
KidSport provides financial support for children to help pay for them to participate in organized sports.
The program struggled in the past year to get enough funding, due in part to increasing demand.
Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart program was a donor but is not providing funding for 2017.
As part of the Cooking for KidSport event, Hudson said there will also be a crowdfunding aspect to it and an online auction.
Those will be added to the event’s website at cookingforkidsport.ca.
Hudson said the ultimate goal for the fundraiser is to raise money.
“And as much as we can,” he said.
