CAVENDISH – The owner of Forest Hills Golf Course in Cavendish announced today the course will close at the end of the 2010 golf season and cease all golf operations in the future.
Heather Campbell says the course remains for sale as development property.
In making the announcement Campbell said, "While Forest Hills Golf Course is not in a money-losing situation at this point in time, it has reached the crossroads where year over year diminishing revenue due to economic concerns and other factors means it's not feasible to continue operating on a 'break even' basis."
She added, "Forest Hills Golf Course has also reached the point where substantial capital investment is required to maintain our standards, and with the course for sale, any such investment could not be recovered given current economic trend."
"It's a decision that was difficult to make, because I know our members and green fee players always enjoyed the course, but there comes a time when solid business decisions have to overcome the emotional attachment I have to Forest Hills."
The 68-acre property lays in a prime location located in the heart of Cavendish and is zoned for commercial use. It will continue to be represented by Century 21 in Charlottetown.
All machinery, power carts, golf course inventory, as well as the new club house building are now for sale.
