Fire from wood stove ashes damages Morell home

The Prince Edward Island Fire Marshal's Office says a box of ashes by a wood stove in a porch caused a fire at a home in Morell Monday night.

At 7:30 p.m., the fire marshal was called to a structure fire in a single-family dwelling in Morell.

Morell fire department responded to the fire and damage was minimal.

The fire originated in a porch at the back of the dwelling, where a box of ashes from a wood stove ignited the wooden floor of the porch.
