Fewer parking tickets handed out in Charlottetown in May

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - Commissionaires in Charlottetown wrote 155 fewer parking tickets in the month of May compared to the same time period last year.

Commissionaires issued a total of 3,142 parking tickets in May 2018 compared to 3,297 tickets they wrote last year, according to statistics released by the City of Charlottetown.

However, the actual number of tickets written so far this year is up over 2017.

Up to the end of May, 14,008 parking tickets have been issued compared to a total of 13,747 over the same time period in 2017.

As for the nuisance bylaw, 87 tickets were issued in May for a grand total of 308 for the year, so far. That compares with 43 tickets issued in May 2017 for a total that year of 180.

In addition, 26 tickets were issued under the dog bylaw in May, bringing the total this year to 133. Last May, 25 tickets were issued bringing the total for the year to 95.
