Winter does not want to release its icy grip on Prince Edward Island and environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the province saying there is a potential for extended period of freezing rain over the Island beginning Tuesday morning.
The statement says that a low pressure system will slowly approach the Maritimes on Monday bringing a mixture of precipitation. Freezing rain and rain is expected to develop across the Island early Tuesday morning. Latest indications are showing that the freezing rain could possibly persist for an extended period Tuesday morning.

The public is advised to monitor future forecasts as warnings may be issued as the event draws near and impacts become more certain.
