A former nine-hole golf course in Murray River will be sold at a public auction Wednesday.

The sale of Eagles View begins at noon in Charlottetown.

The notice of mortgage sale appeared recently in The Guardian and was advertised by Carr, Stevenson & MacKay, a law firm whose office is at 65 Queen St.

An employee who worked at the golf course told The Guardian in April that she received a phone call informing her that the course wasn’t going to be opening for the 2016 season.

“They just said it won’t be opening this year,’’ said Carla Jamieson, food and beverage manager at Eagles View. “Not one reason (was given). (The owner) put a lot of money into (the course) last year to get the greens fixed. I don’t know why he would have done that if he wasn’t planning on opening.’’

The owner she referred to is Kevin Surette, president of Moncton-based IAM Building Systems. The Guardian attempted to reach Surette, but the call was not returned.

The course employed nine people.

The names listed on the mortgage are Robert Johnston, Robert Adamczyk and 656214 N.B. Ltd., which was dated Nov. 4, 2013.

“Because of default having been made in payment of the principal, interest and installments secured thereby and default otherwise under the provisions of the said collateral mortgage; the said properties will be sold subject to a reserve or upset bid and conditions of sale,’’ the notice of mortgage says.
