Christmas may be in the rearview mirror, but it was still a topic of debate at January’s public meeting of council.
Coun. Bob Doiron said he continues to be “very frustrated’’ at the lack of Christmas decorations outside the downtown core, specifically in his ward.
It’s a point Doiron has raised before.

He noted that in the past Coun. Terry Bernard, chairman of urban beautification, has said it’s one city and that there are decorations in Bernard’s ward.
“We all deserve a little bit of Christmas decorations in our wards,’’ Doiron said. Bernard said Doiron should have made the request before the decorations went up, to which Doiron responded if he had known he supposed to ask for them he would have.
The city spent $42,000 this year on decorations. “You knew that we were buying Christmas decorations,’’ Bernard said. “You could have made suggestions; you could have made recommendations.’’
